Kitchen Tip: Simple Green Cleaner

Kitchen Tip
In last week’s Keeping a Clean Kitchen post, I promised to tell you about one of my favorite cleaners in this week’s Kitchen Tip.  The cleaner I like the best and use the most in my house is Simple Green.

Simple Green® All-Purpose CleanerNot only is this cleaner non-toxic and biodegradable, it cleans really well.  I usually buy a large jug of it from BJ’s, but you can find jugs at other stores also.  It can then be diluted to the strength you need, depending on the job.

Simple Green is often found in the automotive section of a store, because it’s great for cutting grease.  That’s why I like using it in the kitchen.  I keep a spray bottle that is pretty well diluted for general cleaning, and a more concentrated bottle for heavy duty cleaning.  For more information, see their uses and dilutions guide.

Do you use Simple Green?

Linda, I came across your site through Gluten Free Bloggers. Interesting and informational! I have added your link to my blog list and have followed you as well.
I don't believe that I have used Simple Green, but have seen it in the stores. I may just have to give it a try!
Thanks for sharing the 'kitchen tip'.

You can find me at http://allergiesandceliac.blogspot.com/

I love Simple Green, but Middlest can't stand the smell of it, so I had to stop using it and go with something else. :(

Actually, nowadays we make almost all our own cleaners...

My husband and I own a cleaning company in Louisville KY. We send our cleaning associates out with this stuff it is great! We tried lots o' stuff but this is the winner! We wanted to "go green" and keep people safe and be able to get thing really clean at the same time. Everything you said is 'spot on'

Happy Cleaning!

How is it on stainless steel, and do you know of a good green automatic dishwahing powder or liquid? Nothing that I can buy seems to work very well. It is frustrating.

Mari ~ I do not have a stainless steel sink and have not had one for a number of years, so I can't say how it works. I think it would work well, though. I have been wondering about the dishwasher detergent myself. Sorry I'm not much help.

Simple Green makes me sick quicker than anything else on the market.

I use mostly baking soda, vinegar, water, a small amount of dishwashing (liquid) detergent. But i also like the Thieves' Oil cleaner. Much pleasanter than Simple Green and doesn't make me ill.
