Kinnikinnick Doughnuts – Review & Giveaway
If you’re not familiar with Kinnikinnick Foods, their mission statement is:
To provide Celiacs, people with Autism and other people with special dietary requirements with an uncontaminated, risk free source of food products. To provide our customers with food that actually looks and tastes Great.Their products are produced in dedicated gluten, wheat, and nut free facilities that use soy, eggs and sesame seeds. I found their video on the importance of dedicated gluten-free facilities and equipment interesting. In it they simply show us a high speed waffle line that they purchased used and had to clean. It took them four weeks to remove all traces of gluten. You can see in the video how much gluten can be found on various parts of the equipment. They took the equipment apart to clean it—something that is not done when a company uses shared equipment. Many of the areas cannot easily be cleaned, yet are close to if not actually in contact with the food. You can also find the video on the Kinnikinnick Foods website.
For the Valentine’s season,Kinnikinnick is offering the above pictured cinnamon apple doughnuts which are gluten, dairy, soy, and nut free. They are available until February 28th and only through their website or by calling toll free 1-877-503-4466.
Kinnikinnick sent me a sampling of their doughnut varieties. These apple cinnamon doughnuts may be more dense than their gluten-containing counterparts, but they have that doughnut flavor along with the cinnamon and a hint of apple. Gluten-free son and I both liked them, and my sweet-toothed son did everything he could to talk me into giving him one, which I did. He thought they were pretty good, and he’s a gluten eater. The doughnuts are small, about 3 inches in diameter and come 6 to a package.
Don’t expect a gluten-free doughnut to be exactly like a big soft gluten-filled doughnut. But if doughnuts are something you really miss, these are good. You can look for Kinnikinnick in the frozen section of health food stores and the frozen health food section of some regular grocery stores. I have seen them at Giant. There is a store locator on their web site or you can order directly from them.
Kinnikinnick also offers other gluten-free (and dairy free) products such as breads, cookies, mixes, cooking/baking products and more.

Oh! Don't get me started on what kind of donuts I miss the most. The powdered donuts are what comes to mind right now! randomcash05@gmail.com
Aaaand I just added you on Twitter. How about a really, really hot & fresh Krispy Kreme, where the donut is squishy but the icing is already crunchy-hard.
(I haven't had a donut in over 5 years. I'm kind of torturing myself here.)

I miss either long johns with custard or apple fritters the most. I was such a sucker for donuts during my gluten days
I would love to try these! There were these bavarian filled triangle donuts from a local doghnut shop~yum
I would LOVE to try some Kinnikinnick donuts. I have seen them at the store, but hadn't worked up the nerve to buy them.
Forgive me if this is a duplicate.... I'm having trouble seeing my comment.

I've tried the vanilla iced donuts before, but my local health food store doesn't carry the other varieties (the downside of living in a smallish place). Thanks for the giveaway.
Oh, forgot to say I missed the boston creme donuts. I don't do facebook but I do follow you on rss feeds.
I just plain miss donuts! I loved the chocolate sprinkle kind the best, but was usually up for anything!
I've tried kinnikinnick donuts before - the chocolate kind - and really enjoyed them. I drizzled them with some additional chocolate syrup and sprinkles.
Personally, I prefer homemade, but who has time to make donuts? These are a great treat to keep in the freezer!

I miss plain raised, glazed donuts the most. Pillowy soft and yeasty....oh, and I also miss the Vanilla Kreme filled donuts from Dunkin Donuts. Sigh.
I would love to win these for my daughter. She has a huge sweet tooth and doughnuts have left a gap in her gluten free life. She isn't picky- anything with sugar will do ;)

My son and I always have the maple variety on hand and we love them and he's not even GF!! (sharae65@juno.com)

I "like" your FB page and I really do like the nightly dinner posts. :) I recently refered those posts to a friend who just found out she can't eat gluten.
I miss the apple fritters and just the plain doughnuts. But i do not miss the way the wheat and gluten in them make me feel! GF doughnuts would be fabulous!
Thanks for posting all these great recipes!

Doughnuts used to be a major temptation to me, when I was young and didn't think I should avoid all that sugar...and gluten. There's not anything else that smells or tastes quite the same. Now that I'm older and wiser, what a treat it would be to have some gluten-free doughnuts!
Oh how I miss vanilla doughnuts with vanilla icing and rainbow sprinkles. I can make gluten free ones, but they are just not quite as good.
Thanks!

No gluten free donuts available anywhere close to where I live - I really miss all flavors - even the plain ....Will gladly take some off your hands please :)
I miss the flavored cake donuts - like pumpkin, or blueberry, or cherry.
I buy Kinnikinnick donuts for my son for special occasions. We can only have the cinnamon sugar ones though, because those are the only ones without corn. (he also has a corn allergy.) If it's been a while since you've had a donut, and if you warm these a little, they really hit the donut spot!
