Apricot Oatmeal Review & Giveaway

Simpli apricot oatmeal
I was recently contacted by Simpli to try their new gluten-free apricot oatmeal.  I’m so glad I did try it.  This instant oatmeal is perfect for a cold winter morning.  It’s warm and creamy (even without milk) and has a delightful apricot flavor.

You know my first concern, though, is always to find out what a company does to produce a gluten-free product and avoid cross contamination.  Here is a quote from their gluten-free process page where you can learn more:
At Simpli, we take extra care to make sure our oats are certified gluten free and never contaminated by contact with other grains. Our oats are sustainably grown and harvested in fields dedicated to oats, processed and packaged in facilities used exclusively for oats. This rigorous quality control allows us to deliver the highest quality gluten-free oat products.
The apricot oatmeal contains oats, apricots, sugar, and salt.  It has 4 grams of fiber, 10 grams of sugar, and 5 grams of protein.

I love the simplicity of the ingredients.  While I don’t usually use instant anything, there are times when it is useful.  The oats are ready in a jiffy and the fruit is already in there.  Personally, I would prefer they omitted the sugar.  An unsweetened oatmeal would allow me to add the amount and type of sweetener I desire.  Other than that, I loved the oatmeal.  Each box contains five servings in individual packets.  So far I have only eaten it as oatmeal, but Simpli also suggests using it in granola, pancakes, cookies, and smoothies.

The Giveaway

One winner will receive four boxes of Simpli gluten-free apricot oatmeal.  To enter you must be a U.S. resident, and you must leave a comment on this post.  Leave a separate comment for each entry.  Please make sure I have a way to contact you.  Up to four entries per person:
The giveaway will end on Monday, January 3rd at 11:00 p.m. eastern time.  After the winner is contacted, I  will announce the winner on my Facebook page.

Disclaimer:  I was sent free boxes of oatmeal to sample.  The opinions in this post are my own.

My daughter would love to try this oatmeal she and I have been gf for almost 2 years I found out she could not tolerate gluten when she was born almost 2 years ago while I was nursing her she was getting extremely sick and having bloody stools and it was because of gluten, and by cutting it out of my diet for her I found out I can't tolerate it either my doctors wanted to give me a hysterectomy until I figured out the gluten was causing all the pain,so my 23 month old daughter just loves oatmeal its one of the few things she can eat as she has multiple food allergies.Unfortenatly for me I can't even tolerate gf oats so I won't be eating them just my daughter.

These sound really good with that apricot, although I agree that if I had a choice, I'd probably add a different sweetener to mine. I used to eat a lot of oatmeal, but since I went GF in 2000, I've not trusted it much. This sounds safe and yummy.

The oatmeal would be for my husband. Technically it's my oldest son who is gluten-free, but I don't keep any gluten in the house, so the hubs misses oatmeal. We've been gf for nearly 3 yrs. It helps immensely with my sons ADHD.

Apricot oatmeal sounds really good, although I would also prefer no sugar. I think the apricots would be enough sweetness. But I would try these, would be good to have a work for breakfast. I think my son would like this too. I've been gf for just a few months, but like healthy oatmeal.

I like you on facebook. I was diagnosed with Celiac about 6 years ago now. My dad was just diagnosed about a month ago now. So the oatmeal would be for him. My dad has always loved oatmeal, expecially the flavored ones. I have tried helping him learn what foods he has to avoid now, and this would make the process much easier.

This would be for my 6 1/2 year old son who has celiac disease (gluten free for 3 years) and loves oatmeal! Also for my husband who is gluten intolerant (gluten free for 1 year). Truthfully though, it would be for all of us (includes another son and I) as we keep our house gluten free. :)

The oatmeal would be for me who hasn't had any oatmeal in over 4 years, and I MISS IT. I just couldn't risk it, I follow you on facebook (and regularly post my dinner menu), I love your emails, but I don't do twitter.

Simpli sent me some oatmeal to try as well, and while I didn't have it myself (b/c of the sugar), my non-gf friend tried it and liked it. Don't add me to the giveaway, just wanted to add that it was well-liked.
