Gluten-Free Wednesdays 8/25/10

Gluten-Free Wednesdays2

It’s that time of year.  School has started for us.  My oldest son is in college, but living at home. I home school my two youngest boys who are in 9th and 11th grades.  Thankfully, they are pretty independent, and several of their courses are co-op classes which meet once a week through our support group.

I have to admit, though, that sometimes when life is busy, I want to give up blogging.  Sometimes it becomes something I have to do rather than something I want to do.  Then I receive a comment or better yet, an email, from a reader who takes a minute to say thanks.  It makes my day and keeps me going.

Another thing that keeps me going is this blog carnival.  I look forward to your comments and your links.  Last week I started using my StumbleUpon toolbar more, and I tried to stumble all of your links (I may have missed a couple, and I’m sorry if I did.)  I appreciate everyone’s participation, and I hope to bring a little more traffic your way through StumbleUpon.

Last week we had lots of great links including several pesto recipes.  If you haven’t tried this month’s create a pesto challenge, you still have time.
Parsley Walnut Pesto from Chaya’s Comfy Cook Blog
Vegan Arugula Pesto Melange from The Mommy Bowl
Sun Dried Tomato and Spinach Pesto from Beyond Rice and Tofu
My submission is week is another zucchini recipe:

Zucchini Scramble

Linda, thanks for stumbling. I thought I noticed a little boost in traffic. And thanks for continuing GF Wednesdays. It's a great way to find good GF recipes, and inspire new ones.

Linda, I so resemble your feelings about being so busy that it becomes difficult to want to post. And then, as goes for me as well, somebody says something so kind to me and I am all charged up again.
We all thank you so much for hosting this wonderful carnival. It is so fun to see everyone's post come together in one spot!
This week I posted my Cinnamon Raisin "Bran" muffins for the carnival! They are Gluten Free and Dairy Free.

Hi Linda,

Ditto to what Kim said. I haven't even been doing it very long.

Thank you very much for hosting this event. I'm getting to know a lot more gluten-free bloggers this way, and it helps me in my confidence to cook real food instead of from a box.

And, I admire you very much for homeschooling. I think that takes a lot of discipline on your part. Good for you!

xoxo,
Tia

Hi Linda,
Thank-you for hosting again this week. Your Zucchini Scramble looks very yummy, you always have the best recipes.
I have added my Baked Pork Chop Dinner to your linky.
You can always add your recipes to my Food & Health Carnival on Thursdays. (I hope that is ok to add this in the comment section).
Have a wonderful week.
Lisa

Thank you for hosting! I know how you feel about blogging . . . sometimes it's more work than fun, but it's always the readers and their comments that make it worthwhile.

Hey Linda, I think we're all there with you on blogging. I love the interaction and mutual support, but sometimes I'd like to abandon the schedule part. Yet, it's weekly events like yours that make it so much fun. Contradictory? Yes, but true! LOL Thanks so much for hosting, and my hats off to you and all the other great bloggers who host while still having kids at home. With Son 22 and away at college, my time is much more my own. You guys are the ultimate jugglers! Thanks for sharing yourself with us. :-) Thanks for the Stumbles, too. A good practice for all of us to get into.

I linked up a new creation using up some basics before I head off to IFBC--potato-zucchini soup. I made mine in the slow cooker. A very nice, savory soup. Interestingly enough, when I sauteed the zucchini, onion, and garlic before adding them to the slow cookier, I decided it smelled so good, that I added some of the mixture to my scrambled egg that morning. So I had an individual zucchini scramble you could say. ;-) Delicious, as I know yours is!

Shirley

Linda I totally understand about the blogging! You're tired and busy and running ten directions and then you get a comment out of the blue that charges you up all over again. You are very appreciated by me and a LOT of other people so keep it up! This week's post is a GF Penne Genovese that if I'm not mistaken qualifies as a pesto recipe! Thanks for hosting!!

I'm new to blogging, but blog carnivals look like a lot of work. Thanks for hosting Linda.

I love the zucchini recipe. Never have enough of those. And that antique bowl is gorgeous! I have a weakness for pretty dishes. Thanks for hosting. I'm linking up with a Peach Cream Pie this week.

Thanks, Linda!

Glad to have found this - I have customers looking for inspiration!

I wondered where the extra traffic came from last week. Thank you!

Balancing homeschooling and homemaking can be difficult. Adding in blogging can occassionally be overwhelming(at least for me). I know we will settle in to a nice routine in a couple of weeks, but until then I am going to have some late nights!

P.S. I thought I submitted duplicate posts and deleted one, but I guess I didn't. I get blonder when I am sleep deprived. :D

Darn, I missed the linky and just learned this was the last week for the Pesto Challenge! Well, here's the link if anyone's interested in my pesto with the "secret ingredient" of sunflower seeds:

Thanks for this fun challenge!

I echo your challenge with staying incented (it does not like that spelling) with blogging. Keep up the good work.
